This past weekend we took a day trip to Sequim, Washington to visit the Purple Haze Lavender Farm. This trip by far could be my favorite memory we have shared as a family. Everyone really enjoyed the outstanding hospitality we experienced at the farm. It was the perfect little day trip.
The farm offers, you-pick flowers, picnic tables, a beautiful gift shop, and a refreshment stand that features lavender ice cream, lavender lemonade and much more.
I made a quick stop to Trader Joes the day before to pick up a few items for a charcuterie and cheese board. The board was perfect for a late summer lunch enjoyed at the farm. You are welcome to bring takeout or pack your own lunch.
We managed to make the trip with a 10-month-old baby by leaving the house during his first midday nap. This way he slept on the whole drive and was rested for the lavender fields. Grayson’s second nap was on the way home, which we found to work out perfectly for the 2 hour drive.
Overall it was fun for the entire family, it felt great to get out of the city and enjoy the beautiful lavender bloom. We will be back next year.
Another nearby attraction that is fun for the whole family is the Olympic Game Farm, a longtime game farm with bears, big cats and more offering a drive-through tour.
Sequim is close to Port Angeles and Port Townsend. Both offer fun family experiences. I would recommend checking those towns out if you are in the area.
